One Direction's Harry Styles and The Wanted's Nathan Sykes had a rivalry
for the ages but now the two pretty boys are drinking buddies
Bezzies: Nathan and Harry
As boyband feuds go the clash between One Direction and The Wanted was pretty epic.
But The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes and former rival Harry Styles attempted to patch things up on a drunken night out in LA. Nathan blamed his bandmates, who split last year, for starting the war of words (as you would) and doled out advice to Haz on going solo.
At the height of their spat, 1D’s Zayn Malik branded The Wanted’s Max George “Chlamydia Boy”. Charming.
The rest of The Wanted and their girlfriends waded in and before long fans were making death threats.

Nathan wants to bury the hatchet
But Nathan insists he and Harry, both 21, have since bonded,
saying: “I was out with Harry in LA recently. We were both a bit merry,
but we had one hell of an embrace. I never had a problem with any of the
1D boys and never got involved with the Twitter fights, it wasn’t me. I
think sometimes you can be a victim of hatred through association. I
was like ‘I didn’t say anything!’”
Speaking on set of his new
top-secret debut solo music video in California, Nathan says he reckons
1D are ready to go their separate ways, too. He tells us: “I think their
last album sounded brilliant. But when you’re a percentage of a group,
you’ve also just got to give yourself some time where you can be 100%
for yourself. You’ve got to do the stuff that you always wanted to do
and have fun with it, rather than be 20% of a boyband.”

One for the road: Harry Styles
But never mind 1D, The Wanted have had plenty of infighting,
most recently when Max reached out on Twitter to all his old bandmates
except Nathan when they were featured during the Superbowl. Nathan,
who’s rocking a new dapper look in designer suits, laments: “Maybe he’d
had a couple too many shandies and that’s why he forgot I was ever in
the band. It’s a shame that he forgot.”
But he adds that he won’t
be doing any more gigs with the lads for the foreseeable future as he’s
putting the finishing touches to his debut album. He says: “I’m sure
they’ll do some more, but I’m personally very focused on this at the
moment so it won’t be for me.”
