Dis-dressing: Woman who ordered red carpet frock left with ill-fitting disaster showing gap between Hollywood and reality

When the dress arrived it left little to the imagination - and a lot to be desired

A Chinese woman ordered a revealing dress from an online retailer, hoping to emulate the risque glamour of a Hollywood starlet.
However, when the dress - a copy of the daring outfit worn by American actress Jaimie Alexander at the LA premiere of Thor: The Dark World - arrived, it left little to the imagination and a lot to be desired.

A woman in China has been left disgruntled after the daring dress she bought online fell short of her expectations
The dress, modelled on Chinese website Taobao, features a full-length see-through panel at the front, showing off the wearer's cleavage, belly button and a whole lot of leg.
But, as these pictures show, the grim reality was a mite less flattering.
The dress is stretched across her frame and the private parts that are meant to be tantalisingly hidden are pretty much all on display.

Sporting bright pink slippers to add to the lack of sartorial elegance, the annoyed wannabe head-turner uploaded the pictures of herself - perhaps wisely editing out her face - wearing the dress to the sellers.
Brunette Jaimie Alexander, who played Sif in the blockbuster, flaunted her enviable figure in the tight black dress on the red carpet at the El Capitan Theatre last year.
Fashionistas were likely left wondering: "What happens if that panel shifts 1cm to the left!?"
