Madonna didn't report rape to police because it wasn't "worth it": "It's too much humilation"

The veteran singer opens up over rape horror after moving to New York city as a teen

Madonna has opened up about being raped as she battled to become a successful singer explaining why she never went to the police.
The Material Girl, who has discussed being sexually assaulted previously, appeared on US radio on Wednesday.
She explained she was a trusting and naive 19-year-old girl who had just moved to Manhattan from America’s Midwest when the incident occurred.

Speaking to Howard Stern she said: “The first year in New York was crazy.
"I was in shock, I didn't know a soul.
"I was saying, 'Hi' to people on the street like a dork.”
She went on to explain how her apartment kept getting broken into, and despite losing all her possessions, she maintained her trusting nature.

Then describing her attack she said: “My stupid friendliness and just chatting I needed money because I was going to a dance class and the door was locked and I needed money for the telephone.
“The pay phone. [This guy] gave it to me and then he said, ‘Let me walk you to the phone.’
“He was a very friendly guy. I trusted everybody … then he was like, ‘I live right across the street. You can make a phone call from my house.’”

Her attacker persuaded her to got to his home across the street where he then raped her.
When asked if she ever reported the crime to the police, the 56-year-old explained the experience was traumatic enough.
“You’ve already been violated,” she said.
“It’s just not worth it. It’s too much humiliation.”
During the interview on Wednesday Madonna also revealed she once dated late singer Tupac Shakur.
